qEEG Analysis & Testing

Quantitative Encephalography is the process of acquiring electrical activity of the brain, processing this through an algorithm which can assist in sourcing where dysregulated networks exist. The Brain Clinic utilizes the AppliedNeuroscience Neuroguide normative lifespan database, containing thousands of gender-matched electrical scans to compare your brain against a scientific, valid "norm".

This technology has existed for nearly 50 years, and continues to prove itself as a valuable tool in providing diagnostic criteria, sourcing dysregulation and aiding in treatments such as Neurofeedback and Neuromodulation.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback - SWLORETA Training

Neurofeedback uses operant conditioning to train the brain to regulate itself as a gentle, non-invasive treatment methodology. The user wears a 19 channel EEG cap, which measures the electrical activity of the cortex and other deeper structures using scalp-electrodes. Nearly 2500 variables are then trained based on a custom protocol developed from the qEEG analysis to improve symptoms such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, autism spectrum disorder, pain, ADHD, focus, memory, and cognitive decline.

Neuromodulation

Neuromodulation - tDCS, tACS, tVNS

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS), Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS), and Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) are non-invasive neuromodulation therapies that use low-level electrical currents to influence brain activity and promote neurological change. tDCS works by delivering a steady, low-level current to targeted brain regions, modulating neuronal excitability to support improvements in attention, memory, depression, and chronic pain. tACS uses oscillating currents tuned to specific brainwave frequencies. such as theta or gamma, to entrain and regulate neural rhythms, showing promise for cognitive enhancement, mood disorders, and sleep disturbances.

 

tVNS stimulates the vagus nerve through the skin near the ear, activating the brain's broader regulatory networks to reduce inflammation, support autonomic balance, and address conditions including depression, anxiety, epilepsy, and PTSD. While research is ongoing, a growing body of clinical evidence supports the effectiveness of these modalities — particularly when used as part of an integrated treatment plan.
