Biofeedback Training
Biofeedback is a non-invasive therapeutic technique that uses real-time monitoring technology to help individuals gain awareness and voluntary control over physiological processes that are typically automatic — such as heart rate, muscle tension, breathing patterns, skin temperature, and brainwave activity. By displaying this information through visual or auditory feedback, clients learn to recognize how their body responds to stress, emotion, and thought, and develop the skills to consciously regulate these responses over time.
Who is Biofeedback for?
Biofeedback is used to treat a wide range of conditions across both children and adults, including anxiety, chronic pain, migraines, hypertension, ADHD, PTSD, irritable bowel syndrome, and incontinence, among others. It is particularly well-suited for individuals who prefer a drug-free approach, those who have not responded well to medication alone, or those looking to complement an existing treatment plan. Athletes and high-performance professionals also use biofeedback to optimize focus, stress resilience, and physical performance.
The research base supporting biofeedback is substantial. It holds the highest level of efficacy ratings for conditions such as tension headaches, migraines, and urinary incontinence, and strong evidence supports its use for anxiety and ADHD. Most clients see meaningful, lasting results within a structured course of sessions, particularly when combined with complementary therapies such as neurofeedback or psychotherapy.
